Props to all who rode yesterday (11/8) !

Wasn't that special?  Good thing it wasn't COLD.  My shoes are still soaked...

I had great fun riding with Cecil, Chi, and Pat.

Lynn, I second that emotion!  Great job everyone.  Once we got out there it was like being kids and playin' in the rain.  To those who didn't ride...

Hu! I couldn't go. Still recovering from a crash. Perhaps next weekend, if our tandem is repaired by then.

I especially liked the part when it rained so hard that it hurt. I put in just under 84 miles yesterday, and I am pretty sure that at least 60 of them were in pouring rain. Lynne and I were both impressed by how many riders showed up - a far cry from last winter when she and I had to shame people into leaving the shelter of the coffee shop :-) And props are definitely due to KRhea for doling out fenders like candy and setting a land-speed record for flat changing . . . .

Yes a land speed record on changing a flat. Thanks for the help KRhea. But where were you on the other two? Just kidding. Your help was greatly appreciated. What rain? It was just a light mist. (IS THAT ALL YOU GOT!!!!)( HAIL TO THE KING?).

Speaking of mudflaps. If you need them let me know. I found the perfect recipe

     1 cordless drill

    1 hand pop rivet gun

1 pop rivet set( inlude proper sized washer)

1 1/2 gal milk jug side

    three minutes tops to install

    Sweet

Agreed. Lots of rain and lots of fun. Funny how something that would be miserable by yourself becomes fun with others. Fun loves company!

    Hi Lynne,

I'm not sure what kind of booties you use but I got a pair of  Sugoi Resistor booties last year and found they are the best at keeping my feet mostly dry. They work better with mountain bike style shoes as they have an open bottom. I've tried lots of others and probably will just replace these with the same when they wear out. I've seen that Gore makes a really heavyduty one but it's $80.00 and is very loose fitting. I can't see it doing any better job.

I've got Sugoi Resistors.  I wear them over PI GoreTex shoes.  Yesterday (11/11) Cecil and I rode a 200km.  I wore wool socks, waterproof socks (Serius Stormsocks),  PI Goretex shoes, and the Sugoi Resistors.  Oh, and PI Amfib tights OVER the booties.  I rode 62 miles before my feet got wet; a new record.  Surprisingly enough, my feet got warmer once the water finally soaked through.  Must have been the "wetsuit" effect.  I just carry changes of socks (and gloves).  NOTHING is waterproof.  Just water-resistant for longer periods of time. :-)

However on Saturday, I was really dumb and didn't bother to wear booties at all...

I, too, have Sugoi Resistors, and the same PI winter boots as Lynne (no surprise there, I know). In plain ol' everyday rain - you know, the kind that stops every once in a while -- my feet stay warm and dry. If the rain never lets up, I can get about 60 miles before my socks start to get wet. When it rains as hard as it did sometimes last Saturday, the wetness starts earlier, but I never have the enormous lakes of water I used to get in my old Shimano MTB shoes. Yesterday, I managed to go about 66 miles before the water crept in.
