Howdy Mates-

I was on a conference call with the folks at LAF this afternoon (the Austin LSC is happening this weekend).  The LAF will be announcing cities for next year and....

Seattle will be the host city here in the Northwest, not Portland.

They specifically wanted our club notified because of all we have done in the past two challenges.

I am a little bummed because our Local Organizing Committee did an amazing job putting on the event and our club did a phenomenal job supporting through our Stellar Ride Marshalls and the Rest Stop.   I want to thank everyone again for their efforts and will keep you posted for potential opportunities for the LSC as it moves to Seattle.

Bummer.. considering PDX was the charter city for the challenge (outside of Austin), and the ties to Nike and OHSU, that's a pretty bold move the event to Seattle.  Oh well.

John this really sucks! That was one event I really looked forward to helping out with(even in the rain). It almost makes me want to throw out my Yellow wrist band in protest!

I'm wondering if there's a way we could make lemonade out of lemons. Maybe we could have a PV road trip weekend. We could still host a rest stop on Sunday and show the folks in Seattle what Portland Velo is all about. Maybe we could even head up Friday evening and do a ride somewhere in the area on Saturday for those that will be working the rest stop - possibly even hook up with Cascade Bicycle Club for the Saturday ride. Just some thoughts.

 Thanks for your feedback last night at the meeting.  I'll bring that to the table when the planning begins for the 09 LSC.

December is when things are going to start rolling for next year's challenge. Will keep everyone posted as details emerge.
